Porter appointed judge in 5th Judicial District

113 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawGov. Terry Branstad on Tuesday appointed David Porter as judge to the District Court in Judicial District 5C. Porter was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Richard Blane. Porter, 38, of Johnston, currently serves as an assistant Polk County attorney. Previously he served as an assistant county attorney in Wapello County and was an adjunct professor of law at Drake University Law School and a certified legal instructor for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Porter received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 2000 and his law degree from Drake in 2004. The 5th Judicial District encompasses 16 counties, including Dallas, Polk and Warren counties.
