Prairie Meadows is suspending its donation to the Wellmark YMCA over its stalled pool project, reports DesMoinesRegister.com. The casino pledged $1 million for naming rights to the aquatic center, but its board of directors voted last week to delay any more payments until YMCA officials explain their plan to raise the $6 million to $8 million needed to finish the project. Prairie Meadows was scheduled to donate $200,000 in December, the third of five annual payments. The decision to delay the payment is unlikely to derail the pool project. Casino board members said they are willing to write the check as soon as they receive some face-to-face answers from the YMCA, possibly in January when Y officials are scheduled to appear before the casino’s board.
