Preliminary draft of plan for vision of downtown DM available for public review May 25
An initial summary of recommendations for the Downtown DSM: Future Forward Vision Plan and Action Plan will be available for public review on Wednesday, May 25. The plan is a community-driven effort to help position the region for short-term economic recovery and long-term economic vitality. The summary will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the skywalk level on the south side of the Wellmark YMCA building. Residents can attend anytime during those hours. Consultants from Baton Global, Civitas Consultants and RDG Planning and Design will share ideas with residents and ask for feedback on final draft recommendations for the plan, which will provide a road map for the next chapter in the region’s growth and build upon a vibrant environment that already exists through events, attractions, major projects, major employers and more. The plan is the result of a monthslong collaboration among the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Bravo of Greater Des Moines, Catch Des Moines, the city of Des Moines, Des Moines Regional Transit Authority, the Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce, Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, FuseDSM, Operation Downtown and Polk County.
