Early education provider Primrose Schools announced it will open its first Iowa location in Ankeny in January. The Primrose School of Ankeny at Prairie Trail, which will serve more than 200 students ages 6 weeks to 5 years old, is now enrolling. The Ankeny franchise owners, Lyndi and Sean McVey, who met while students at Drake University, said they wanted to bring the school to Iowa after struggling to find the same quality care for their daughter they experienced at a Primrose school in Orlando, Fla. Founded in Marietta, Ga., in 1982, Primrose Schools was first franchised in 1990. It now has more than 400 locations nationwide, each independently owned. Iowa will become the 30th state with a Primrose location when the Ankeny school opens. The company said it has more than 160 schools in the development pipeline and 31 new locations slated to open by year-end.
