For the 17th consecutive year, Principal Financial Group has been named one of the Top Companies for Executive Women by the National Association for Female Executives. Principal is a member of the NAFE Top Companies Hall of Fame, recognized alongside nine other companies for their contributions and continued commitment to women’s leadership. The Des Moines-based financial services company’s initiatives to attract, retain and promote women and diverse employees resulted in hiring 455 women in 2016, compared with 306 men. Women outnumber men in management by more than 50, and women make up almost 42 percent of the company’s executives. Deanna Strable, Principal’s newly promoted chief financial officer and executive vice president, is among just 58 female CFOs working in Fortune 500 companies, as of 2015.
