The Principal Charity Classic presented by Wells Fargo on Tuesday announced that this year it raised $2,053,725 for Iowa children’s charities, the largest annual donation in the event’s history. The latest donation brings the tournament’s charitable giving total to nearly $10 million in 10 years. This year’s tournament, held May 31 to June 5, attracted a record 83,389 spectators to the Wakonda Club. Funds raised through the tournament support six Tournament Charity Partners in the Des Moines area, as well as more than 100 Iowa children’s charities in the region and across the entire state participating through the Birdies for Charity program.
