Principal Financial Group Inc. announced that it has renewed a three-year agreement to remain the title sponsor of The Principal Charity Classic presented by Wells Fargo.

Larry Zimpleman, chairman, president and CEO of Principal, said he is “extremely proud” of the success the golf tournament has had over the last five years. The tournament is the only Professional Golf Association Champions Tour event in Iowa and has raised $3 million for local charities.

Organizers with the event also said today Glen Oaks Country Club will not be hosting the golf classic in 2013, and they are “aggressively” looking for other courses in Des Moines.
