What: Kinship Brewing Co., a new brewery planned for Waukee
Where: 255 N.W. Sunrise Drive, Waukee
Background and update: Site work has begun on the $6.5 million brewery project on about 6 acres in northwest Waukee.
Plans for the development, which has received all of the necessary city approvals to move forward, include a brewery, an outdoor plaza with a place for food trucks, a dog park and connections to the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Eventually the venue could include a restaurant and other amenities.
Sunrise Drive Acquisition Co. LLC, which is managed by Zach and Ann Dobeck, in late February bought the land for $841,909 from Stratford Crossing LLC.
Zach Dobeck said grading and utility work has begun at the site. He said he doesn’t anticipate delays due to the novel coronavirus.
The project’s general contractor, Estes Construction, “has implemented precautionary measures to ensure distancing is being practiced wisely,” according to Dobeck. “As long as our building material lead times do not inflate and our construction workers remain healthy, we will continue to plow ahead, as scheduled.”
Construction of the project is expected be completed by late fall.
