Proteus Inc.’s annual fundraiser to recognize farmworkers and raise funds to support its mission is scheduled for Nov. 5. According to a news release, the “I’m Thankful for Farmworkers” fundraiser will take place virtually through OneCause, a one-stop-shop platform that will provide an engaging experience for participants. Other streaming options will also be available. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. with a program designed to celebrate farmworkers and partner agencies. It will also include a silent auction. Multimedia artist Just Favela will be the featured speaker. His work is on display through Jan. 23, 2022, at the Des Moines Art Center in a solo exhibition titled “Central American.” Daniel Zinnel, Proteus CEO, said the company is excited to recognize farmworkers at the event. “The last 18 months have been unprecedented for all of us, but especially farmworkers,” he said. “They have shown up to work, no matter what, to help put food on our tables every single day.”
