Rasmussen Group has acquired Ideal Ready Mix Co. and L&W Quarries, the companies announced recently. The acquisition was completed on Feb. 23.

According to a news release, Ideal Ready Mix and L&W Quarries are subsidiaries of Johnson Holding Co., and the deal aligns with the retirement of four Johnson family members and the 40-year anniversary of their acquisition of Ideal Ready Mix. The companies are headquartered in West Burlington, according to their websites.

The addition of Ideal Ready Mix and L&W Quarries brings the number of affiliates in the Des Moines-based Rasmussen’s portfolio to 11.

Lynette Rasmussen said Ideal Ready Mix and L&W Quarries, their employees and customers are a welcome addition to Rasmussen Group because of shared values and focus on customers.

“As we continue to pursue growth in our business, we intend to expand the positive impact to the communities we serve,” she said in the release.

Rasmussen Group serves customers all over the central U.S., and represents various construction services. The acquisition of Ideal Ready Mix and L&W Quarries expands its service area, the release stated.

Leaders of Johnson Holding Co. said they have been preparing for a potential sale for the past five years, and transitioned to the non-shareholder management team of Beverly Strah as chief financial officer, and Tom Alexander and Brad Helmerson as general managers in 2018. All three, along with the existing employees, will remain part of the new organization, the release stated.

“With a shared commitment to customer service and company values, this is a natural fit for both parties,” said Jay Johnson, vice president of Johnson Holding Co. “Additionally, Rasmussen Group’s resources and operational footprint will allow Ideal Ready Mix and L&W Quarries the opportunity for future growth.”
