Perhaps reading time was hard to find with the warmer temperatures tempting us all to get outside and realize it really is spring. Here are a few things that cropped up on my reading list that may appeal to you as you start your workweek.

First, Sunday was Earth Day. In honor of the planet, here’s a USA Today story, “Tech firms like Google, Amazon push power companies toward solar and wind, a blow to coal,” to get you thinking greener and to give a bigger look at energy.

Next, Reuters previews a big case, “Trump’s travel ban faces U.S. Supreme Court showdown,” coming before the nation’s highest court that could affect immigrant employees in the U.S. The case starts Wednesday.

In state news, this story of two women helping to start a Christian school that focuses on diversity caught my eye, “Christian school with focus on diversity sets fall opening”, as Waterloo has one of the state’s more diverse populations and workforces. Diversity in the workforce is a common issue that comes up when I talk with business leaders.

As lawmakers work to wrap up business at the Statehouse, the Cedar Rapids Gazette helped show the effect some departures are going to have with this story, “148 years of Eastern Iowa legislative experience leaving.”
