REG posts second-quarter loss of $2 million
Renewable Energy Group Inc. this week reported that the fire at its Geismar, La., plant cost the company $7 million on its bottom line for the second quarter. The Ames-based company sold 24.5 percent more gallons of biodiesel in the quarter, and revenues were up 12.3 percent. Gross profit was $15.9 million, or 4.3 percent of revenues, compared with gross profit of $15.2 million, or 4.6 percent of revenues, for the second quarter of 2014. The company had a net loss of $2 million.
