Regents name first UNI presidential finalist

The Iowa Board of Regents today announced the first finalist in the search for the next president of the University of Northern Iowa. Neil Theobaldformer president of Temple University in Philadelphia, will visit the UNI campus on Tuesday to meet with faculty, staff, students and members of the community. Theobold was president of Temple from 2007 to August 2016; before that he was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Indiana University. He also taught as a professor of education at both universities. The Philadelphia Business Journal named him Most Admired Education CEO in 2014. Theobald is one of three finalists participating in a final round of interviews at UNI. A fourth candidate was invited to be a finalist but withdrew. Following the campus visits, the Board of Regents will convene a meeting on Dec. 6 to interview the candidates and select a new president.
