Amalie Nash, the top editor at The Des Moines Register since January 2014, has accepted a new position supervising 50 news organizations in the western part of the country as part of USA Today Network, the Register reported. The network is designed to take advantage of coverage from dozens of news staffs nationwide. Nash has been heavily involved with investigative reporting efforts, freedom of information, digital innovations and political coverage. Veteran Register editor Carol Hunter will serve as interim executive editor until a search led by Nash is complete.
