Register publisher takes job in Cincinnati

Gannett Co. Inc. today announced that Rick Green, the president and publisher  of The Des Moines Register, has been named president and publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer, which is also a Gannett publication. Green will also have the title of regional president of Gannett U.S. Community Publishing Ohio. Green joined the Register in January 2011 as president and editor before being named publisher in August 2013; he has been employed by Gannett for more than 25 years. Earlier in his career, the Ohio native worked as an assistant managing editor, business editor, suburban bureau chief and reporter with the Cincinnati Enquirer. Immediately prior to coming to Des Moines in 2011 Green worked as executive editor in Palm Springs, Calif.  Green succeeds Margaret Buchanan, who is retiring from the Enquirer. The Des Moines Register also reported that General Manager Julie Harvey will serve as interim publisher following Green’s departure. Green’s last day with the Register will be Feb. 27.
