Registration has begun for the sixth annual Des Moines Corporate Games, which will be held June 1 to July 30, 2021. Companies can now register to secure their spot in this annual event, which is a project of the Iowa Sports Foundation and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. In 2020, 73 companies and more than 13,000 employees participated in the games. Due to the expected growth, a limit of 90 companies has been set for the 2021 competition to ensure the best experience possible for those participating. Some virtual events that were added this year will be continued in 2021 and beyond, said Chuck Long, CEO of the Iowa Sports Foundation. Events — which are all scheduled on evenings or weekends — range from competitive team sports to noncompetitive participation activities, including online challenges that can be completed at the participants’ worksites or home. The Des Moines Corporate Games is also community-focused with blood donation and meal packing challenges. Entry fees, paid by each participating company, are based on the number of people employed in the Des Moines area. The winning company in each division will receive the coveted Corporate Games Cup during the Iowa State Fair. “The Des Moines Corporate Games promote teamwork, physical health and mental health by bringing together local organizations to participate in fun, competitive activities,” said Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This sense of community both within our workplaces and within our region is key to attracting and retaining talent and ensuring DSM remains strong.” Employers can get more information and register here.
