Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced the second annual Iowa Homeownership Incubator competition. The competition challenges lending institutions and real estate professionals in Iowa to promote financial literacy and homeownership among all Iowans. The winning idea will receive a $20,000 grant to implement the initiative. Reynolds said that homeownership is crucial for economic security and wealth creation, and that supporting financial literacy efforts will allow more Iowans to become homeowners. The Iowa Homeownership Incubator requires partnerships between lending institutions or real estate companies and community organizations or businesses. Proposals must be submitted by Aug. 1, and finalists will present their pitches to a panel of industry judges at the HousingIowa Conference on Sept. 6. The Iowa Association of Realtors and the Iowa Finance Authority will determine the finalists and winner. The initiative aims to educate Iowans about financial literacy related to homeownership and available assistance programs.
