Reynolds announces six more ‘Computer Science is Elementary’ schools

Six additional elementary schools will receive $50,000 grants each to build computer science instruction through a joint project of the Iowa Department of Education and the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. The six new schools will receive $300,000 as part of the Computer Science is Elementary project after the 2019 Legislature appropriated an additional $1 million to the STEM Advisory Council. The schools are Pocahontas Elementary (Pocahontas Area Community School District), Franklin Elementary (Boone Community School District), Hospers Elementary (MOC-Floyd Valley Community School District), Storm Lake Elementary (Storm Lake Community School District), Kingsley-Pierson Elementary (Kingsley-Pierson Community School District), and Whittier Elementary (Clinton Community School District).
