Longtime local public affairs and marketing representative Jana Rieker is joining the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs as director of strategic initiatives. Rieker will develop comprehensive strategies for the department’s work to support the creative economy, education, and community growth related to quality of life. “As Iowa continues to grow while valuing world-class arts, historic preservation and cultural opportunities, Jana’s experience in marketing and communications will be highly valuable in helping us take our key initiatives to the next level,” Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs Director Chris Kramer said. Rieker previously worked at Bankers Trust, Trilix, Meredith Corp., WHO Radio and the Des Moines Register. She has a bachelor’s degree in business from Central College and an MBA from the University of Iowa.
