Come the summer of 2022, the Des Moines metro's Adventureland Park is going to get some competition. It's taking shape on a stretch of former farmland on the outskirts of Waterloo.

Des Moines Register: Come the summer of 2022, the Des Moines metro’s Adventureland Park is going to get some competition. It’s taking shape on a stretch of former farmland on the outskirts of Waterloo. Lost Island Theme Park is a newer, bigger sister of the already established and widely acclaimed Lost Island water park in Waterloo. Owner Gary Bertch is investing more than $100 million in the new project, with the city of Waterloo planning to kick in tax increment financing, tax rebates and millions of dollars of road improvements.
