The West Des Moines parks department is considering a proposal for a riverboat operation on Blue Heron Lake at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines, KCCI reports. The boat has operated on the Des Moines River downtown, the television station indicated. The Jon Anderson White has hosted dinner excursions downtown. Michael LaValle, general manager of the Des Moines Embassy Club, has operated the boat for 36 years. The West Des Moines lake, a former gravel pit, has not had regular commercial dinner excursions. The park is known for its trail, lake, soccer and softball fields, nature lodge, archery range and dog park. Read more
