R&R paid $11.3 million for complex

R&R Realty Group paid $11.3 million for the Capitol Center complex last month, according to records at the Polk County assessor’s office. The three buildings at 400, 500 and 600 E. Court Ave. contain 165,127 square feet of office space and were built in a series of projects between 1982 and 1984. Tenants include Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Kemin Industries and MidAmerican Energy Co.

The former Nacho Mamma’s restaurant building in the Court Avenue entertainment district sold for $1.65 million. The three-story building at 216 Court Ave. was bought by Court Center LLC, an Ames-based development group that plans to renovate the 1885 structure to house a Legends American Grille and other tenants.

Hubbell Realty Co. paid $1.62 million for Copper Creek Golf Course in Pleasant Hill in a deal that closed early in January. The company also owns Woodland Hills Golf Course, located between Des Moines and Ankeny and formerly known as Woodside. Hubbell plans to begin developing a residential community there next summer.

In other recent real estate transactions, Dale Reed purchased a mini-warehouse at 1901 S. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny from Darryl Bresson for $3.4 million. The one-story facility was built in 1999 and sits on a 4.4-acre site.

The Iowa Corn Growers Association paid $1.8 million to Frampton Farms Inc. for an office building at 5505 N.W. 88th St. in Johnston. The one-story structure contains 53,000 square feet and was built in 2001.
