Ruan orders electric semis
Ruan Transportation Management Systems has reserved five of Tesla Motors’ new electric tractor-trailers for testing and delivery in 2019. The new rigs have a 500-mile range on the batteries, and can go zero-to-60 mph in five seconds, unloaded. The battery can be charged to a 400-mile range in 30 minutes. The trucks cost $180,000 each. Regular diesel rigs cost $100,000. Tesla predicts the electric trucks will pay for themselves in two years.
