The board of the Healthiest State Initiative has elected Jeff Russell as its new board president. Russell, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa, joined the board in 2017 and was vice president last year. He succeeds Laura Jackson, executive vice president of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, who will remain on the board as vice president. Ric Jurgens, retired chairman and CEO of Hy-Vee Inc., was elected to another term as board vice president and treasurer. Jami Haberl, executive director of the Healthiest State Initiative, serves as board secretary. “Making Iowa the healthiest state in the country is a big task and one we must achieve together,” said Russell in a news release. “Every Iowa citizen, business, school and government can play a part by acting on the three main goals of the Healthiest State Initiative – eat well, move more and feel better.”
