Salvation Army offers cash assistance to federal employees
The Salvation Army in Des Moines is offering assistance to federal employees who may need a little help before they receive their checks on Friday. The organization announced it will provide up to $200 per family for help toward housing, including mortgage or rent, or utilities, including electric, gas or water. Employees need to have a valid ID, proof of employment such as a pay stub, and a bill showing delinquent or past due charges. Walk-ins are being accepted at the Salvation Army’s Temple Corps location, 1326 Sixth Ave. in Des Moines, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
