Drake University’s school of actuarial science and risk management has presented the 2022 Stuart Klugman Distinguished Alumni Award to Esfand Dinshaw, CEO of Sammons Financial Group. The award is named after Stuart Klugman, who was a pioneer of Drake’s actuarial science program and a faculty member for more than 20 years, a news release said. Dinshaw received the award honoring his nearly 40 years in the insurance industry during a recent reception with the actuarial science program’s alumni, students, faculty and staff. He is a 1982 graduate of the Drake University College of Business and Public Administration. Dinshaw said his Drake education “changed my life.” “My Drake experience provided me a solid basis of education and a commitment to go out into the world and make a difference. … It offered a life experience that taught me both tangible actuarial science skills, as well as understanding the importance and impact of softer skills like communication,” Dinshaw said in a prepared statement.
