Sammons Financial Group Inc. has been honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, recognizing the Best Places to Work in 2020. The West Des Moines-based insurance group was ranked No. 5 on the list of 100 companies. Last year, SFG was ranked No. 22 on the list. The Employees’ Choice Awards program, now in its 12th year, is based solely on the input of employees who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies on Glassdoor, a job and recruiting site. Pella Corp., at No. 79, was the only other Iowa-based company on the list. “Making the Glassdoor Best Places to Work list is a significant honor for us, particularly because it’s based on real employee feedback,” said Anne Cooper, senior vice president and chief human resources officer for SFG. The company broke ground in June for a new West Des Moines headquarters building. The $65 million project, scheduled for completion in fall 2020, will bring the company’s approximately 500 Central Iowa employees under one roof and make room for 125 future positions.
