SBA backs $2.6M in Central Iowa loans
The U.S. Small Business Administration backed 13 private Central Iowa loans for a combined $2.6 million in March for projects expected to create 122 jobs and retain 132.
For this purpose, Central Iowa consists of Polk, Story, Boone, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Marion, Jasper and Marshall counties.
None of the loans were for over $1 million. Among the largest were:
- $492,000 to BBB Properties Inc. for an Indianola chiropractic clinic expected to create three jobs and keep eight others.
- $475,000 to Emerge Academy LLC in Grimes, a fitness center expected to create five jobs and keep two.
- $425,000 to Plunkett Enterprises S&S LLC in West Des Moines, a barber shop planning to add one job and keep 13.
- $300,000 to SCI Holdings Inc. of West Des Moines, a beauty salon that plans to retain 39 jobs.
The value of the Central Iowa loans backed was the second-highest this year. The number of loans was the highest monthly total this year.
Statewide, the SBA backed loans for 18 new and seven existing businesses that planned to create 85 jobs and keep 208.
