Brad Buck, superintendent of Cedar Rapids Community School District, has been elected to the School Administrators of Iowa Executive Committee. Buck, who was director of the Iowa Department of Education from 2013 to 2015 prior to his current position, will begin a one-year term as vice president of the SAI Executive Committee on Sept. 1. He will move through the offices to become president-elect in 2020, and will serve as president of the association beginning September 2021. His term will conclude as past president in 2022-23. The association represents more than 2,000 of Iowa’s educational leaders with a mission to advance quality pre-K and K-12 education. “Further building capacity in all leaders is integral in the work ahead,” Buck said in a statement. “I look forward to addressing this goal with a specific focus on equity, access, and diversity of leaders in order to enhance our efforts to serve students and strengthen our workforce.” Buck has also held administrative positions in the Saydel, Waukee, Hudson and North Mahaska school districts.
