Senior living projects get funding awards
Community housing and disaster recovery funding announced this week will provide more than $3.4 million to build at least 128 senior-living apartment units in Greater Des Moines.
The awards are part of $29 million in funding announced Wednesday by Gov. Chet Culver. The grants will support nearly 50 Iowa projects through the Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnership programs.
The awards include at least seven projects in Greater Des Moines, including four senior-housing projects: Fort Des Moines Senior Housing LLLP, South View Senior Apartments II LLLP, Legacy Manor LP and Christ the King Senior Housing LLLP.
Olive St. Brickstone Housing LLLP and MLK Brickstone II LP were awarded $232,000 and $520,000, respectively, for the construction of two apartment complexes, and Woodland West Associates LP will use its $900,000 award to renovate a property into apartments.
Nine additional awards will provide supplemental funding to support projects in disaster affected areas, as part of CDBG action plan approved last fall by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
As part of that initiative, Fort Des Moines Senior Housing LLLP, South View Senior Apartments II LLLP, Legacy Manor LP, Olive St. Brickstone Housing LLLP, Christ the King Senior Housing LLLP, Woodland West Associates LP, MLK Brickstone II LP, Walker Corners LLC and Sugar Creek Bend LLLP will receive a combined $11,283,666.
