Services scheduled for David Hurd; lapel pin tribute planned
A visitation and community farewell for G. David Hurd will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Capital Square Atrium, Fourth and Locust streets, with a celebration of life service at 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at First Unitarian Church, 1800 Bell Ave. Condolences may be expressed through the Hamilton Funeral website by clicking here. The retired Principal Financial Group Inc. CEO and community activist passed away on Feb. 6. In addition, organizers are planning a tribute for Hurd by encouraging attendees to wear a lapel pin in his honor, according to former Principal Financial Group Senior Vice President Mary O’Keefe. Hurd often adorned his lapels with pins for two reasons; in protest that in most species it is the male who is most colorful and humans screwed that up, and his belief that everyone had a personal responsibility to make their little piece of the world a little more beautiful.
