Flooding has caused the Des Moines Parks and Recreation department to close the following trails:

• Bill Riley Trail

•The west leg of the Meredith Trail from the northwest corner of Gray’s Lake Park to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway at 15th Street.

•Neil Smith Trail in the area of Birdland Park

•Walnut Creek Trail

•Gay Lea Wilson Trail along Four Mile Creek

Des Moines Parks and Recreation will notify the public when the trails are reopened, after the water diminishes and any debris has been cleaned from the trail. For more information, call Don Tripp, the department director, at 202-8388.
