Construction has begun on a 195,000-square-foot speculative industrial building in Bondurant’s Commerce Crossings.

The building is the first of two warehouses planned for the 24.3-acre Commerce Crossings, located north of Interstate Highway 80 and west of Grant Street South and south of Wolf Creek. The building will include a 28-foot clear height, 16 drive-in doors, 18 dock doors and 165 vehicle parking stalls.

Construction is expected to be completed by late 2021.

Opus Group, a Minneapolis-based commercial real estate development, construction and design company, is working with Signature Commercial Real Estate on the project.

Signature plans a second speculative building that will be built adjacent to the structure now under construction.

Currently, more than 1.4 million of speculative industrial space is under construction in the Greater Des Moines area, according to a recent market report by CBRE|Hubbell Commercial. About 435,000 square feet of the space is expected to be delivered in 2021. The remainder is expected to be completed by mid-2022.
