The Startup Champion Network Summit will introduce leaders of entrepreneur support organizations to Des Moines and its startup community in a 2 1/2-day event Oct. 12-14. A national organization, Startup Champion Network hosts two annual summits, allowing attendees to get to know the host city’s attractions and its entrepreneurial ecosystem and initiatives. This is the first time Des Moines has been selected as the host city following a nomination from Gravitate founder Geoff Wood. A group of four local organizers, including Wood, has planned the entire summit, which will include breakout sessions and outings to Des Moines venues. Diana Wright, a startup community builder for the Greater Des Moines Partnership Startup, said the summit is a chance for supporters of the startup community across Iowa to convene as well as welcoming newcomers. “I would say certainly it will amplify Des Moines and all the activities that we have happening in our startup community, but I would also say it’s a catalyst for Iowa and Iowans who support the entrepreneurship community to actually come together and reimagine what’s next,” Wright said. Today is the last day to register, and Iowa attendees receive a discounted ticket with the code “IowaChampion.”
