State drug courts receive money for mental health services
State officials announced today that Iowa drug courts will get an $810,000 federal discretionary grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The grant will be used by nine Iowa drug courts to enhance mental-health services. Approximately 27 percent of offenders served by the drug courts are in need of mental-health treatment.
Drug courts in the following counties will receive funds: Black Hawk, Dubuque, Pottawattamie, Linn, Johnson, Scott, Des Moines and Wapello.
