The State Historical Society of Iowa is accepting nominations for the Excellence in Iowa History Awards, which recognize those who “make contributions to the study and practice of Iowa history,” according to a press release. Nominations for the Benjamin F. Shambaugh Award for published books are due by Jan. 2, while nominations for all other awards are due by Feb. 1. Details about the awards can be found here. The organization is also accepting nominations for its board of trustees. Nominations are open to all, but board nominees must be society members, willing to attend five meetings per year, and serve on committees. Nominations to the board must include a brief biography and should be submitted by March 1, with the elected trustee serving a three-year term starting July 1, 2024. Self-nominations are accepted.
