State launches cybersecurity program for women

The state is partnering with SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network and Security) to encourage women to work in cybersecurity. GirlsGoCyberStart is a free online game that offers female students in grades 9-12 lessons on basic cybersecurity skills and tests their aptitude. Iowa’s students will compete against students from 16 other states. Registration runs Jan. 29 through Feb. 16. Prizes will include computers and a trip to the Women in CyberSecurity Conference in Chicago. The three schools in Iowa with the most participants will win cash prizes of up to $2,500. See full details
