State economic development officials and Gov. Terry Branstad are already preparing a proposed aid package to back negotiations they hope will land DowDuPont’s planned new ag spinoff, The Des Moines Register reported. That operation, which would include what is now DuPont Pioneer, based in Johnston, would be bigger than Monsanto Co.’s operation in St. Louis should the companies complete a planned merger. “We’re treating this as if we’re recruiting a new company,” with incentives that range from grants and loans to tax credits, Tina Hoffman, a spokeswoman for Debi Durham, the state’s economic development leader, told the Register. Branstad also is involved in discussions.
