State seeking volunteer nominations
The state of Iowa is seeking nominations for the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame, which is intended to honor people who have changed their community, the state, the nation or the world through volunteer service. Nominations, which may be submitted in one of six categories – individual, organization/nonprofit, group, family, business/corporation or national service – must be received by Jan. 7. Since 1989, the state has added 130 names of volunteers to plaques on permanent display in the State Historical Museum. On Feb. 22, a special ceremony will be held in the state Capitol to recognize the 2011 inductees. For more information, click here.
