State supports airport work in Ankeny, Des Moines, Grinnell, Newton
The Iowa Transportation Commission this week approved the state’s new aviation plan that includes grants for airport improvements in Des Moines, Ankeny, Newton and Grinnell. Ankeny will receive $236,250 for a $525,000 apron grading and paving project. Des Moines will get $128,800 for a $184,000 road project for the general aviation area. Grinnell is in line for $260,000 for a $325,000 fuel system project. And Newton was awarded $296,000 for its $370,000 fuel system relocation project. The money comes from aircraft registration and fuel fees.
