Stocks down in June; majority of Iowa companies negative

Only two companies posted double-digit percentage gains. Twelve Iowa-based stocks posted losses, with two being double-digit percentage losses.
Meredith Corp. had the largest gain of the month with a 28.98% increase. Workiva Inc. had the second-biggest gain at 17.31%. American Equity Investment Life Holding had the third-biggest with a 5.97% increase.
Flexsteel Industries Inc. posted the biggest percentage loss at 13.10%. Casey’s General Stores Inc. had the second-biggest loss with an 11.86% decrease. United Fire Group Inc. was third with a 9.53% decrease.
The Iowa Index, an unweighted average price of 17 Iowa-based public companies, decreased 2.70% in June, compared with a 5.49% increase in the Nasdaq stock index and a 0.08% decrease in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The Iowa-based companies that make up the Iowa Index are in bold in this list of companies with sizable operations in the state.
