Street Collective donates bikes as part of back-to-school giveaway
The Street Collective has donated more than 40 bikes to local children as part of its back-to-school giveaway. According to a news release, children who qualified for free or reduced-price lunch received a bike, helmet, bell and safety tips. The donations were made during August. Street Collective promotes active transportation options that are available to everyone, and envisions a region where everyone can walk, pedal, ride or roll throughout the community, according to the organization’s website. The news release states that children who bike or walk to school are healthier, more alert and perform better. The Street Collective usually hosts a back-to-school Bike Rodeo but it was suspended this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
