Iowa College Aid last week notified 889 students that they had been selected to receive All Iowa Opportunity Scholarships. More than 10,000 Iowa students applied for the scholarships. Of those, roughly 9 percent were selected based on high school performance and financial need. Priority was given to students from alternative high schools or alternative programs, and students in certain federal outreach programs. The scholarships must be used to attend colleges or universities in Iowa. The maximum award for each student is $8,118, depending on factors such as financial need, enrollment level and the family’s expected contribution to tuition costs.
