The Iowa trucking industry pays over $4.3 billion in wages to employees each year. Average salaries run close to $44,000. The trucking industry accounts for 1 in 13 jobs in Iowa. The Iowa Motor Truck Association reports virtually all of its 700 member companies are looking for workers. Nearly three-quarters of goods manufactured in Iowa are shipped exclusively by truck.
