Stuff the Bus set for May 19
The annual drive to put books in the hands of the community’s children has been scheduled for May 19. The Stuff the Bus campaign, a partnership of United Way of Central Iowa, Athene and Shazam, will collect new and gently used books from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Athene, 7700 Mills Civic Parkway. The books will be distributed to United Way’s partner programs, child care centers, schools and in-home child care providers. Organizers say there is an urgent need for books for pre-K through second grade students. Nearly 20,000 books were collected during last year’s event.
