A new survey says the number of Americans who say things are going badly in the country is on the rise, and a growing number of people believe that economic conditions are getting worse, CNN reported.
A CNN/ORC International poll released today found that 63 percent of respondents feel things are going poorly in the country, up six percentage points from April.
Only 36 percent of people feel optimistic about how things are going in the country, down seven points from April.
The number of people who say the economy is starting to recover is 19 percent, down from 24 percent in April, and 39 percent of Americans say the economy is still in a downturn, up six percentage points since April.
The poll was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, with 1,010 adults nationwide questioned by telephone.
