More than 8 in 10 Iowans view the Iowa trucking industry in a positive light after learning the impact that trucking companies have on job creation, according to a new survey commissioned by the Iowa Motor Carriers Foundation and conducted by RABA Research.
Further, the survey found 66 percent of Iowans believe the trucking industry pays well, and nearly 3 in 4 Iowans support the industry’s contribution in getting fresh produce and online orders into Iowa communities.
The Iowa Motor Truck Association plans to use these findings as it launches a new industrywide “Trucking Moves Iowa Forward” image campaign later this month, the association said in a release. The survey was unveiled at the Iowa Trucking Driving Championships, a competition held at Prairie Meadows where drivers compete in various driving and safety competitions.
“We are encouraged by these findings, because it shows that when Iowans understand how vital our industry is for Iowa and the economy, they are receptive to our industry’s efforts,” said Brenda Neville, IMTA’s president. “We have a great story to tell.”
Included in that story, Neville said, is the $15,000 spent per truck per year on ensuring that safety and compliance are always at the forefront.
The survey, conducted June 8-10, had 652 respondents and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
