Des Moines Register: Polk County supervisors are being asked to spend up to $16 million on several water-quality projects that County Administrator John Norris said could jump-start “transformational” changes for Central Iowa residents. A task force Norris assembled has laid out a plan that would use some of the $90 million the county received from Congress under the American Rescue Plan Act to provide seed money for several top-priority projects. They include new research to better document pollution problems, land acquisition for improved waterways protection, and expanded flood prevention measures and wetlands creation.
