Tax credits, firearm laws among measures effective today
Some new business-related laws become effective today, ranging from a new program that will allow companies to seek tax credits for producing renewable chemicals from farm crops and material left over after harvests, to a new sales tax exemption for companies that use certain supplies in the manufacturing process, the Sioux City Journal reported. Other new laws give Iowans more freedom to carry firearms while riding their all-terrain vehicles and more protection from trespassers peeking into their homes, the Cedar Rapids Gazette reported. The bills were among 141 measures signed by Gov. Terry Branstad this year.
