The Ramada Inn Northwest will receive an estimated $12 million in upgrades.

The hotel, at 5000 Merle Hay Road, Urbandale, is planning for a new restaurant and bar, conference center and water park.

In addition, 166 rooms will be remodeled, including 10 new suites. The project will add 64,000 square feet to the hotel. The Burger King adjacent to the property will be demolished to expand the hotel’s parking lot.

The site plan has passed both the Urbandale City Council and the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
